Product Description The Keystone.... You need the ultimate combination of a location photo/video pack, 12" IT case and sport-travel backpack that provides ample ergonomics, stability, protection and stealth, all in a package that is fully convertible between these three specifications. This is the basic model, for compact D-SLR/video kits. Full photobackpack, professional photo gigsters, The Keystone is the bag for u... Holds: Location photo/laptop backpack, fully convertible. Rearward opening convertible 12" photo/laptop backpack is low profile - for great stability, good security - access to main compartment only if bag is off -shoulders, and good durability - the main zip works with, not against the bag. On location the bag is placed 'front' down - the harness and back pad stay cleaner so you do too! The main photo compartment is fully configurable, has plastic sheet cored foam inserts that prevent hot spots on equipment and is full removable, allowing the back pack to be used solely for cargo. The removable insert for 12" laptops can be used to insulate your lap whilst working, from a hot laptop. For extra support deploy the adjustable chest strap. Use the shoulder straps to attach an optional extra Thirsty Al mobile phone holder.

Inconspicuous bag with a huge price tag. June 17, 2008 V. Urista (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all let me say I only have two lenses and a small camera body (XTi). However, I think this bag is perfect for what I need (for right now anyway). I have a Tamron 28-75 and a Canon 50mm and as you would expect, they fit inside the bag nicely. However, with a bigger lens, perhaps a 70-200mm, you will need to get creative to try to fit all your gear into this bag. I also use this bag to store a Sony Camcorder I have. The laptop sleeve is a nice size for my 13 inch Macbook. I tried putting the Macbook in with an Incase padded sleeve I had for it before I got this bag, and it fits inside the backpack laptop sleeve, but the backpack will not close, so the Macbook goes in 'naked'. It is still somewhat tight to close the zipper with the backpack loaded with my camera gear and the 'naked' Macbook, but I would guess it would be easier to close once the bag gets broken in a little. The bag opens through the back panel and I personally really like it this way. It gives you peace of mind in a crowded area, especially since the bag sticks out more than a regular backpack does when it is loaded with equipment. The bag itself seems really well made and the materials are sturdy, it is definitely not a cheaply made bag. The inside main compartment can be removed so it can be used like a regular backpack. I like that it looks like a regular backpack. I've read reviews where people have said that it looks like a camera bag that is trying not to look like a camera bag, therefore thieves will target it as a camera bag. That is just over thinking the situation and being paranoid.
The downside of this bag would be how small it is. However, with some maneuvering of the detachable panels inside, I could fit a lot more (I've seen reviews of this bag online that hold a lot more than what I have). Currently, it holds what I have perfectly. Also, the laptop sleeve is removable so that could create extra space. While the back panel opening is great, it does mean that you will have to set your bag down to get out gear which can be annoying and unsafe depending where you are. Another downside is there is no place to store small items. There are two front pockets but they are tight when there is gear loaded in the main compartment, although you can put in an iPod and other flat items inside. This is the smallest bag in this range of Crumpler's bags so a Whickey and Cox (medium) and Karachi Outpost (largest) would be better if you have a lot more lenses and a bigger laptop. Finally, $200 seems ridiculous for this bag, something around $150 would be a little more reasonable, but I bought it because I needed a bag and this was one of the few that had most of the requirements I was looking for.
