Lexar 8GB, Professional 300X, UDMA CF card June 23, 2010 Michael W. OBrien (Valley Head, Alabama) I bought this Lexar UDMA CF card several weeks ago for use with my new Canon EOS 7D camera, after reading revues on the card on Amazon. Reviews on the camera also recommended a UDMA card for maximum performance by the camera. Works great, and is an incredibly fast CF card. I do mostly nature photography especially butterflies and dragonflies. This card writes as fast as I can trigger the shutter on my EOS 7D, which can be several times per second. This type of photography, at times, requires multiple photos to be taken in order to get a few that meet the stringent criteria for sharpness, positioning, lighting etc. This card works great and I'm ordering a second one today. FYI, the EOS 7D is an incredible camera too.
A professional's choice June 22, 2010 Christine M. May (Kansas City, MO) I am a pro wedding photographer. In 2007, I bought a brand new 4GB Sandisk Extreme 3 memory card (which was like $215 at the time). The first time I used it was at a wedding and the card was defective...so I almost lost 80% of the wedding images. It took a few weeks and two different pro data-recovery companies in California to retrieve the images. Oh, and it was expensive. After that, I did a lot of research on memory cards and such. Lexar Professional had good reviews, so I decided to get all new cards. I have solely used Lexar Professional compact flash cards since 2007 and I am quite happy with this brand. Haven't had any problems. I currently use mostly Lexar Pro 8GB 300x cards. Anything less than 300x isn't fast enough to process my large files during fast burst modes...and due to the important nature of the photography (weddings), I don't plan to use anything larger than 8GB for security reasons. I would recommend Lexar Professional to all photographers.
performance on my Mac Pro May 6, 2010 Neurasthenic (New York City, New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My old setup (firewire 400 card reader, sandisk Extreme III card) transfers a 1Gb file at 104.6 Mbps. The new setup (this card plus a Lexar CompactFlash FireWire 800 Card Reader RW034-001) does the same job at 285 Mbps. I have no complaints.
