Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
Get a fascinating perspective on landscapes, cities, crowds, and special events with the Sony SAL-16F28 16mm fisheye lens. Designed for Sony Alpha digital SLR cameras, the unique lens offers a 180-degree angle of view and extraordinary corner-to-corner sharpness. As a result, the lens achieves crisp, clear detail from roughly 8 inches to infinity, with an exaggerated perspective and intriguing visual distortion that's beyond the ability of the human eye. When mounted on a Sony Alpha DSLR-A100, it provides a 110-degree angle of view with a 24mm focal length (35mm equivalent). The lens also offers built-in filters that can be selected by simply rotating a dial on the lens, including normal, 056 for accented contrast in black-and-white photos, B12 to correct color by eliminating red tones, and A12 to correct color by eliminating blue tones.

4 out of 5 stars Sony at its best   March 19, 2008

I was searching for a super wide Sony make high speed lens, I was a bit hesitating to purchase fisheye because I knew it distorts and 11~18 is not that fast. I tried 16MM as I had no options and what a pleasant surprise - I am happy to say that with 16 MM I have been handling distortion to my advantage..

It is very effective glass, unbelievable sharp and captures great rendition, very cute size to enjoy, it is now always on my camera, don't feel like changing to earlier (sigma20-40) wide angles.

Filters are integral part of this lens but not much of an attraction in today's world. Wish instead Sony had thought of protecting the outer surface, as it can scratch too easily.

Amazon.com was offering best value, quick in supply; actually nothing to say beyond that I have been buying my stuff since many years from them. May be they needed to increase range in accessories, beyond standard items.
